What would you tell someone just starting out in the industry right now?

Learn the "why" behind every number, not just how to produce it. Anyone can build a formula. The value is in understanding what the output means and being able to defend it to leadership. Get comfortable with the systems side early, because the people who understand how data moves between platforms are the ones who can take ownership, earn trust, and solve the toughest problems across the organization.

What has changed the most since you started out in the industry?

Automation and integration. When I started, a large share of the job was manually pulling and stitching data together. Now the pipes connect the systems, so the work has shifted from gathering numbers to interpreting them, pressure-testing forecasts, and ensuring the integrations feeding everything are accurate.
