Mark is Senior Consultant at F2 Strategy with more than 20 years of expertise focused across US RICs, Lux SICAVs, Cayman Unit Trusts, and pooled Irish UCITS fund structures.  Mark’s success is characterized by cultivating long-term working relationships with colleagues and clients. Mark’s first exposure to investing began with an internship at a New York City based hedge fund and his interest grew from there.

Mark is currently providing support to a large investment manager for their internal middle office migration (IBOR).  He is working closely with stakeholders to validate completion of account setups, security master records, facilitating acceptance testing, and resolving any exceptions.

Earlier in his career, Mark served as an Assistant Vice President at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co.  In that role, Mark led a team of accountants who performed daily P&L performance validations across more than 600 multi-domiciled accounts with significant fixed income and derivative exposure.  His familiarity with a global service model allowed him to work seamlessly across time-zones with Eurozone and Pacific Rim based clients.

In addition to daily production reviews, Mark was instrumental in the conversion of more than 600 FX share class accounts across dozens of currencies.  Prior to his promotion, he worked in multiple client service capacities involving daily reconciliation reviews of cash, payables/receivables, and position differences as well as the compilation of monthly management reporting and key performance indicators. Mark is based in Boston.

What would you tell someone just starting out in the industry right now?

Be a sponge. Ask questions about everything that you hear. Seek out complex client relationships because those are the ones where you will learn the most. One of the best investments you can make is to buy a coffee for those you view as mentors; they will pay it back with support and guidance ten-fold.

What has changed the most since you started out in the industry?

Technology has come to the forefront in the past 20 years. I remember manually printing sheets of broker statements each day to "tic-and-tie" against. The use of today's tools allow for tremendous scalability not only in the oversight arena, but also in fund service product offerings. With the advent of artificial intelligence, there will be significant changes across the investment operations landscape.

What are three words that describe how you do your job?

Diplomatic, Meticulous, and Inquisitive.
